Foundation Stage News 17 January

Here are some of the things that we have been doing this week:

Lots of activities relating to the Gingerbread Man story.

  • Making stick puppets and painting the characters from the story.
  • Making gingerbread shapes from salt dough.
  • Sequencing the story of the Gingerbread Man with photo cards.
  • Designing a mat to use with the Bee Bots.
  • Painting giant gingerbread men to make a number line.

Forest Group 2 was unable to go to the forest this week as we had no parent helper. Please sign up on the Forest School rota as there are many gaps.

Reception children have been

  • Reviewing set 1 sounds using magnet boards and writing on white boards.

Nursery children have been

  • Enjoying phonics sessions with Boris the Bat listening to and recalling the order of different sounds.
  • Learning the song Puff the magic dragon.

Please help them to

  • find objects at home that begin with our sound of the week and bring them for the display table. Next term’s sound will be o.

Next Week

Forest Group 1 should be going to the forest but there is no parent helper for the morning session. Please sign up on Monday if you are able to help. The children are always disappointed if they have to miss their turn.

Maths curriculum session Tuesday 21st January 3-30-5-30.

There will be a short presentation by Mrs Crouch in the hall followed by the opportunity to visit classrooms and see how we teach maths in all the year groups across the school.
