Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Foundation Stage News 17 October

This week has been all about the pumpkin! We picked them, we weighed them, compared them by size, drew them (using pastels and crayons), cut them in half, scooped out the seeds, cooked them,  made them into soup and for those who attended Harvest Supper we ate them!

Thank you to all those who donated ingredients and came to the Harvest Supper.

Here are some of the other things that we have been doing this week:

  • Printing conker and acorn patterns with circles and ovals.
  • Rolling conkers and acorns in paint to create patterns.
  • Designing and making new fish for our fishing game.
  • Painting pictures for Teddy Bear picnic display.
  • Writing a menu for a Teddy Bears picnic.
  • Drawing characters and talking about the Pumpkin Soup Story
  • Using the Interactive Board to watch and join in with The Mariinsky Theatre production of The Nutcracker and DigaPix production of Peter and the Wolf.

Read Write Inc. Reception children have been

  • Using the sounds learnt so far to read simple words and make them on magnet boards.

Please revise all sounds learnt so far.

Part time children have been

  • learning the sound f.
  • Listening to and saying the initial sounds of our names and objects and playing I Spy. Working on hearing and saying the initial sounds of words.

Please help them to find objects at home that begin with our sound of the week and bring them for the display table. Next week’s sound will be g.

Next Week

Our focus children will be Georgia, Neve, Maisie Cooper, Gracie.

Tuesday GROUP 1 FOREST

Children will need their full kit lots of layers please. Please remember to name everything. No rucksacks please as the children then can’t fit their coats on their pegs.

Wednesday Individual photos. Please return the slip on last week’s main newsletter if you wish to have a photo of siblings taken together or children will only be photographed individually.
