Foundation Stage News 4 July

Here are some of the things that we have been doing this week:

  • Talking about the butterflies and discussing which came first the butterfly or the egg then writing a letter to the Natural History Museum to ask what they think.
  • Creating pictures depicting the life cycle of a butterfly using collage and printing.
  • Group 1had an adventure in the forest all day.
  • Playground games.
  • Reception children attended Collective Worship with Mrs Collins.

Reception children

  • Writing a story together and then creating our own story maps to retell it to others.
  • Coin recognition and how many pennies make up each coin.

Read Write Inc.

Blue Group

  • Using their phonic knowledge to read and write simple words and sentences.

Green Group

  • Using their phonic knowledge to read and write simple words and sentences.

Nursery children have been

  • Listening to stories.
  • Singing action songs they really enjoyed if you’re happy and you know it.

Please help them to

  • Be familiar with some traditional rhymes.
  • find objects at home that begin with our sound of the week and bring them for the display table. Next week’s sound will be h.

Next Week

Monday new children shall be visiting.

Miss Bithell’s meeting at 2.45pm with Reception children.

Tuesday Forest School group 2 will be going to the forest all day please come at 9am. Please ensure that children have their full kit. Waterproof coats and trousers are essential whatever the weather as they protect from stinging nettles and ticks. They do not need a packed lunch as we shall be cooking it in the forest.

Wednesday We shall take the children to watch some of the rest of the school’s Sports Day.

Friday Reports are sent out to parents of Reception children. Please fill in the comments sheet, sign and return the envelope.

Monday 14 July : meeting in the Study Centre for parents/carers of nursery children (part-time) transferring into Reception full-time in September.
