Please ensure all outstanding Year 1 Dance festival slips and payments are returned by Monday 9th March. This festival is currently at risk of being cancelled due to insufficient payments being received. The visit will take place during the school day and we will return to school by 3.15pm. This is a fantastic opportunity to have a dance lesson in the Chipping Norton sport’s hall and meet some other children from the partnership.
Please ensure payments and slips are returned for the Year 2 Schoololympics by Friday 13th March.

The Big Question
We have been learning about materials and their properties. We have been thinking about ‘What materials can you use to make the Alien’s underpants?. We explored different materials to see which would work and described them using scientific words like transparent, smooth, rough, opaque, rigid etc. We thought about ‘What materials can we used to make the alien’s house?’ We made houses of lego, straws, card and tinfoil and tested them to see if they stood up against water and wind, to see which was the warmest and which was the strongest. We had a visit from ‘Tom the Builder’ (Mrs Harbottle’s husband!) who shared with us what materials houses are built from and why. We thought about ‘Why would wood not make a good window?’ and explored how objects are made from the best material.
We have explored ‘What job does the Queen do?’ by hotseating Miss Riach in the role of the Queen. We have used the internet to begin factfiles about different members of the royal family. We have explored the question ‘How have you used the force today?’ by exploring what different things we have pushed, pulled or twisted during our day. On Wednesday Mrs Collins and Mrs Smith from St Peter’s Church visited us. We helped them to make gifts for the Mothering Sunday service on Sunday 15thMarch. Thank you for to all the parents and carers that came to watch our class assembly this week. It was amazing to see how much we have learnt.
