Dear Parents

Prayer Space: The Prayer Space has been such a success that we are continuing it for another week after half term.  This is what children have been saying about the space:

‘The Prayer Space is relaxing and beautiful’

‘It reminds you of how amazing God is.’

‘It’s nice to have a calm place to think.’

School Games: Spring Term Intra-school competition winners-

Y1 Fundamentals Red

Y2 Gymnastics Yellow

Y3 Net and Wall Green

Y4 Swimming Blue

Y5 Rugby Green and Blue

Y6 Gymnastics Blue.                           Overall winner: Blue.

House Points: This half term’s winner is the Red team for the second time in a row.  Well done Reds!

Library: There will be no Library club the Wednesday after half term due to the Prayer Space.

School Funding:  Please see the separate letter in book bags.  It’s vital we get as much support as possible to protect our children’s education.

30 Hours Free Government Funded Nursery Education for Working Parents

We are happy to announce that from September 2017 we shall be offering the children of eligible working parents 30 hours of Nursery Education for 3-4 year olds from 9am – 3.10pm. The eligibility criteria is:

Children in families where both parents are working (or the sole parent in a lone parent family), and each parent earns from approximately £115.00 per week (a weekly minimum equivalent to 16 hours at national minimum wage); and less than £100,000 per year.

This will be in our purpose-built Nursery staffed by our experienced Early Years Teacher and Nursery Nurses. Children’s names may be added to the waiting list from the age of 2 years.  Places are allocated in line with Admissions Guidelines.  Parents/Carers preferences are considered in order of date of application (please ensure you have completed an application for any siblings over 2!). REMINDER: We offer out of hours childcare at Breakfast Club from 8am and after school our Owl Club runs till 6pm – e-mail admin.3044@hook-norton.oxon.sch.uk for further details.

Activities: Year 1 had an enjoyable day at Banbury Toy Museum as part of their topic on toys, I attended, with Scott Orchard our Chair of Governors, a briefing for heads and chairs with the local authority where the main topic was the funding situation. Y4 had a Roman Day where they dressed up and enjoyed a Roman banquet!

Governor Business: There was a Full Governing Body Meeting this week.  Governors looked at the school development plan to ensure we are on track, there were reports on the curriculum and finance and we discussed pupil progress and looked at the performance of the school compared to other schools for last year.

Out of School Activities: Poppy Queenan received the Silver and Purple Blue Peter badges, Zoe Milne Stage 7 Swimming, Blake Robinson TKD Yellow Belt, William Frere Player of the day for his team.

Well Done: This week we have said well done to: William Garrett, Josh Stratford, Anna Horth, Ben Muller, Dotty Newman, Oliver Wright, Beau Lawrence, Olivia Weeks, Toby Luxton, Rosie Petre, Cecily Peacock, Imogen Nicholls.
