Dear Parents

School Activities this week:

The sun shone (sort of) for Sports Day and everyone ran, skipped and jumped their hearts out. Thumbs were strictly legal in the egg and spoon and there was some creative chanting during the sack race…

Blue team won the day.  Thank you to FOHNS for providing the refreshments and to Mrs Voce for her excellent organisations skills as ever!

Y6 musicians performed beautifully for the school and parents this morning with a range of musical instruments from a harp to a violin and recorder playing through the nose!  Several children were incredibly brave and sang solo as well.

A group of Year 5 attended the Gifted and Talented Maths day at Blessed George Napier with other local schools.

Y6: Went on the Injury Minimisation Programme at the Horton Hospital and learnt how to do CPR.

Y5: Sold their truffles today at break time as part of the Erasmus project.

Y4: Devised Rangoli patterns as part of their Hinduism studies.

Y3: Visited the Brewery Museum as part of their Big Question on Victorians.

Y2: Made papier mache puppets and sewed – thank you to the volunteers who helped.

Y1: Released their butterflies they have been nurturing.

R: Learnt about different sports and made trophies and medals.

N: Walked to the library and observed minibeasts.

Safari Supper:  The village safari supper team are donating £850 to the school in memory of ex-parent Kate Randall who sadly died this year.  Kate was a keen advocate of the great outdoors and supported our gardening club and was instrumental in the redevelopment of the wild garden, so we will be using the money to enhance our outdoor provision.  Many thanks to everyone involved.

E-Safety:  Can I remind you that photographs from school events (like sports days) that include children other than your own should not be put on social media. There have been videos and photographs spotted on Facebook.

Clubs have now finished apart from a catch-up Yoga session next Tuesday 18 July, 3.15-4.15pm. Thanks to all our volunteers who have run clubs, especially Sarah Brown who has decided to move on following seven years running Drama/LAMDA.  Details of next term’s clubs are coming home tonight, with priority given to those signing up before the end of term.

The School Office has assorted items of lost property – keys, sunglasses, jewellery etc.

New Classrooms

We have been very excited to receive the new tables and chairs for Key Stage 1 and have ordered new equipment (e.g. cupboards, scissors, maths equipment, whiteboards…) with funds provided by FOHNS. We would like to thank them for this contribution.

We are looking for extra books (picture, information, early novels), construction kits (Lego, K’Nex…), puzzles, board games, small world (e.g. dinosaurs, farm, train set, dolls’ house), role play (costumes, kitchen equipment, doctor’s equipment…) appropriate for age 5-7.

If you are having a clear out and able to donate any of these items to Key Stage 1 please see Mrs Voce.

Sports: Well done to everyone in Gym Club and Athletics Club who achieved awards – over 50 children!
