The children have all settled into their new classes very well and have embraced the new rewards system with great enthusiasm. The tubes in the reception are slowly filling up with house point tokens and the children are trying to estimate which team is ahead!
As you will no doubt be aware, school budgets have been squeezed year on year. This year is no exception, as we are being required to pay for more and more services that were ‘free’ in the past. The Friends of the school do an amazing job to provide your children with additional facilities and resources. In these difficult economic times their work is even more valued. Last year FOHNS helped us to equip the wonderful new outdoor area for Foundation Stage and replace the chairs and tables in one of the classrooms. We will continue our rolling programme of furniture replacement and need your help to do so! Please come along to the AGM (see below) and lend your support, especially parents with younger children are most welcome. It’s a great introduction into the working of the school and you will make some good friends as well!
Friends Annual General Meeting – Tuesday 27 September, 8.00pm
The Friends will be holding their AGM on Thursday 27 September in school. Please join us for some light refreshment and an opportunity to put forward ideas for the coming year. If you would like to be involved but cannot make the meeting please let a committee member know.
Monopoly: The live Monopoly event was a great success and raised £256 which will kindly be donated to FOHNS. Thank you to the Hopes and Brotherstons for organising.
Reminder: Back to the Future evening Saturday 17 September, tickets available on the door if you haven’t got yours yet! Lots of activities on the Hook Norton Brewery Field from 4pm. Film showing starts at sunset.
Clubs (start next week) : We have been able to accommodate everyone’s requests to join one of our clubs – there are still a few places in Tuesday’s KS2 Sports Club, and in Friday lunchtime’s Key Stage 1 Sports & Y5/6 Play Leaders Club.
Attendance: Well Done to Year 3 and Year 5 for Almost Full Attendance 5-9 September and to Year 4 for Full Attendance.
Reminder: Please use the Crossing Patrol to cross the Sibford Road. Teash is there to make sure everyone crosses safely.
Adventure Playground: The adventure playground is strictly out of bounds for all children before and after school. (We had a case in the past where a lone preschool child had fallen off the adventure playground and was not breathing. Luckily he was found by a member of staff and was fine.) To ensure the safety of the children please make sure they are with you and they don’t wander off onto the adventure playground.
