The Maths Curriculum Open Evening for parents and children was very well received by the families who were able to attend. There were lots of positive comments and interest in how we teach Maths and progression across the year groups.
“I had no idea you had to teach so much!” (Parent visiting Foundation Stage) “It was good for me to see how you do things (a lot different to when I was at school!)”
Mrs Crouch began in the hall with an update on the new curriculum and what changes we will be introducing from September. Parents were then free to visit all the classes where the teachers had put out Maths activities and resources (including new resources provided by FOHNS donations) to try out with their children. Mrs Crouch had also reproduced our Maths Calculation booklet and a sheet of handy tips to help your child with maths at home. These will be going out with the eldest child if you were unable to attend, so please hunt in book bags!

The new regulations on absences in term time have had a significant effect on our attendance. For example: in 2012 there were 766 sessions missed by children but in 2013 this dropped to 576 and our absence percentage has fallen from 3.03% for the Autumn term 2012 to 2.13% for the Autumn term 2013. Thank you for your support and effort in ensuring your children come to school every day – it really impacts on their progress and attitude to school, which will stand them in good stead moving on to secondary school and working life.

Activities: A team of talented swimmers represented the school brilliantly at the Chipping Norton Schools Partnership Swimming Gala. Although we didn’t win overall, every child excelled themselves both in effort and behaviour and a couple were spotted as potential club members. Mrs Crouch visited the technology in education show in London and has come back with lots of ideas to take the school forward in our use of ICT.
Out of School Achievements: Scarlett Ward Stage 2 Swimming award, Sophia Robinson Stage 5 Swimming award.
