Newsletter 24 June 2016

Dear Parents

Expansion: This week the fencing has been completed in the FS outdoor area and we now have new gates.  The digger is busy behind the school excavating earth for the new foundations for the KS2 classes.

Notices: Please check your children’s hair; head lice have been reported in Year 3.

Parentmail: Please bear with us, there is a problem with payments which means nobody can make any online payments for meals, trips, etc.  Please send in cash/cheques payable to OCC if possible whilst Parentmail resolve the problem.  We will keep you informed of their progress!

Reminder: The Whole School Photograph is on TUESDAY morning – Parents of Nursery afternoon part-timers are invited to bring their children direct to the school field at 9.10am to take part in the photo.

Reminder: The last day of term is Friday 15th July at 1.30pm.

Thank You: to the Parish Council for purchasing a defibrillator for school; it has the pads for children and adults and will be placed in the front porch.

Open Afternoon: – Friday 8 July – 1.30-3pm with refreshments and school meal sampling from The School Lunch Company in the hall.

FOHNS BBQ – Friday 1 July – 5.30-7.30pm.  Thank you for your sweets and toy contributions today for non-uniform day.

Second hand school uniform: FOHNS have been sorting out second hand uniform and have asked for any larger size KS2 cardigans/sweatshirts with owl logo and PE T-shirts.
Sainsbury’s Active Kids: This is your last chance to hand vouchers in to be counted as we will be sending the order off next week. Please search your pockets and bags, we need as many as you can find!

Attendance: Well Done to Y1 for Almost Full Attendance 13-17 June 2016.

WELL DONES: This week we have said ‘Well Done’ to:  William Stanton, Alfie Hambidge, All Y3, Iris Fledderus, Jayden Mobley, Evie Molmans, Annie Spicer, Ella Hawthorne, Toby Luxton, Freya Winhammar

Pen Licence: Ellis Holdsworth

ACTIVITIES/VISITS: Y4 have, coincidently, been learning about the countries in the EU this week and have held back colouring in one country…

Y3 had a very successful theatre trip on Saturday to see The Railway Children; apparently it was ‘awesome’!

Y6 have had a brilliant time at Yenworthy and are due back tonight. The office staff have been learning how to use the new Parentmail system; some of the Teaching assistants have been on a speech, language and communication course.  I have met with Fran Kirk (our Equalities governor) to discuss how we are continuing to ensure that all children have access to the curriculum and wider opportunities in school life. You can find our equalities schemes, policies and plans on the school website.

OUT OF SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS: Well done to: Emily Monelle and Bethany Jarvis Stage 5 Swimming, Lani Tanner ,Cavan Tanner and Emily Jessop Orange Belt Karate.

Owl Value of the month : Pride

Children have spoken very movingly about people in school who make them feel proud, from members of staff to classmates who are kind and always there for them.

Yours sincerely

Mrs S Belgrove

Head Teacher
