John Acreman – yesterday we bid John a fond farewell as he came in for his last Church assembly. He left with a tear in his eye (as did I!) clearly touched by all the wonderful memories, poems and gifts bestowed upon him; his caring, generous, and warm-hearted nature will be sadly missed … summed up by one of our pupils who quoted “… . the point is that John spent at least half an hour talking to me about the answer, and that is something that someone (who probably wants to go home or has some important things to do) would not usually do.”
Particular thanks to Miss Persaud for organising such a wonderful send-off and Mrs Inglis for her artistic contribution to the amazing Owl picture.
Reception Staffing – We are delighted that Miss Hannah Mayall has been appointed as Reception Teacher to cover Mrs Nixon’s maternity leave from September. Parents/carers will have the opportunity to meet Miss Mayall at the transfer meeting in the Reception classroom at 2.45pm on Thursday 12 July.
Cycling: It is wonderful that we have so many children cycling to school, however, it has been brought to our attention that a group of KS2 children are cycling on the pavement/paths without regard for the pedestrians. This resulted in a near accident this week where small children were at risk of injury. If your child cycles to school, please remind them to be careful and considerate of others.
Alternative Sports Days for Years 1 to 6 takes place next Tuesday 3 July (no parents/carers) – the main Sports Day takes place on Wednesday 11 July from 9.30am (parents/carers welcome) – please ensure children have correct PE kit and have sun cream, and a hat if appropriate.
Reception Sports Day takes place Monday 2 July, 2.30pm, and Nursery Sports Day on Tuesday 10 July at 9.15am (parents/carers welcome to both).
Work Sharing Afternoon: – Friday 6 July – 1.30-3pm – this is an opportunity for parents/carers to join their children to look at the work and activities they have been doing over the past year. You are welcome to look at the work in the classroom or find a quieter spot around the building (please do not use the area on the field where FOHNS have set up for the barbeque). At 3pm all children need to return to their classroom, whilst parents/carers are welcome to enjoy the Choir performing in the Hall, this is followed by the Summer BBQ – see below.
FOHNS Summer BBQ – Friday 6 July, 3.15-6.30pm: The Friends are working hard organising lots of activities – the event starts off straight after school with lots of games, BBQ food, ice cream, activities on the new track (partly funded by FOHNS), raffle and licenced bar. Thank you all very much for your kind donations of sweets & prizes today. We would also appreciate your help with selling some raffle tickets which are being sent home today to be returned, sold (with money & stubs) or unsold, by Thursday 5 July please. Finally, if you are able to help with setting up from 9am, helping to run a stall or clearing away afterwards, we would be very pleased to hear from you (by e-mail please to email@example.com).
Year 5 Open Morning at Chipping Norton School: If you are taking your Y5 child to the open morning on Tuesday 3 July 9-11.00am, please ensure they book in lunch preference on Monday next week.
Clubs – next week is the last week of clubs (except Sewing which will finish on Wednesday 11 July). Advanced Warning! We hope to send out details of the Autumn term’s clubs at the end of next week. In our drive towards a cashless system, we will be trialling the Parentmail system for parents/carers to purchase places on clubs, where spaces are purchased on a first-come-first-served basis (although you will be able to add your child to a ‘waiting list’ if a club is full). To be able to do this, you will need to log onto your Parentmail account. We would recommend that you take the time to make sure you can log in at https://pmx.parentmail.co.uk/#core/login and can see all your children in your account so that you have time to resolve any problems before the clubs payments go live.
You are also able to see and pay for school meals, visits, Breakfast/Owl Club, etc. Please remember that school meals MUST be paid for in advance – we currently have £529 outstanding for meals.
