Newsletter 7 October 2016

Dear Parents

Many congratulations to Mrs Vint who is expecting a baby in the New Year. She will be going on maternity leave after Christmas and Mrs Nerys Wright will be covering her absence. Mrs Wright is an extremely experienced teacher who lives in Hook Norton and has worked at our school previously over many years. Look out for her pink guitar!

REMINDER: Year 6 Class Assembly for parents/carers next Wednesday 12 October, 9.10am in the Hall.

Harvest Service at St Peter’s Church – Thursday 13 October, 9.30am: You are warmly invited to attend our Harvest Service at St Peter’s next Thursday. Children will need suitable shoes and a coat (waterproof if it looks like rain) with a hood or hat for walking down to Church.  Afternoon Nursery children are welcome to meet us at the Church with their parents should they wish.

Once again, we will be supporting Banbury Food Bank, run by the Trussell Trust and so we are asking for simple donations of tins and packets (non-perishables).  Children can bring donations into school any time next week for our collection.

Individual/Family group photographs: On Monday 17 October – best uniform please – everyone will be taken individually but for a family group please send in the attached slip, e-mail office.3044@hook-norton.oxon.sch.uk, or sign up at the office by next Wednesday 12 October.

Attendance: Well done to Y2 for Full Attendance and Y3 for Almost Full Attendance, 26-30 September.

Activities/Visits: Mrs Belgrove has spent the week with Year 5 on their residential visit to Liddington, we understand they have had a brilliant week, enjoying lots of exciting activities. The afternoon Nursery children walked down to the library on Monday for story-time and to choose books for the class to borrow.  Two teams took part in the Partnership Under 11’s Football Tournament and played really well, the boys team won the Big Schools Tournament.  Yesterday, Year 6 became Vikings for the day, listening to stories and sailing in a Viking Longship with a real life Viking, Njal Thorfinnson.

WELL DONE!  This week we have said ‘Well Done’ to Torin Hackland, Josh Stratford, Evie Molmans, Alfie Packham, Grace Mariner, Freya White, Freya Rennie, Alfie Simmonds, Daniel Rayner, Edward Mix, Hazel Ford.

OUT OF SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS:  Well done to Heath Marshall (Rugby), Atalanta Yost (Gymnastics Blue Award and 10m Swimming), and Cavan Tanner (Swimming Stage 6).

Yours sincerely

Mrs S Peters
