Newsletter 8 July 2016

Dear Parents

Expansion: The new Foundation Stage outdoor area is nearing completion and looks amazing!  The children have been so excited to go on the new climbing frame.  The woodland cabin will be arriving in September to go on the old cycle rack base. FOHNS have worked so hard to make this possible.

Year 6 Musical Concert: Our talented musicians and singers entertained us this morning with virtuoso piano playing, clarinet and violin solos, guitar duets and wonderful singing.

Guitars: Pete Watkins’ guitar club will be playing in assembly Weds 13 July at 9.15am.  Parents are most welcome.

Bake Off:  Congratulations to Lottie Nunneley who won the Chipping Norton Schools Partnership Bake-Off held at CN School this week.  She had to bake and decorate 6 cup cakes before a very strict panel of judges.  Her lion cupcakes were awarded first prize for decoration.

Reminder: The last day of term is Friday 15th July at 1.30pm.

Clubs: All clubs have now finished, except for a LAMDA catch-up session on Monday.

Reports: You will be receiving your child’s annual report today, which is the same format as last year, except we now report if your child is Working Towards the expected standard for their age group, is Working At the expected standard or working at Greater Depth. As you will be aware, levels have been abolished and the new terminology reflects the end of Key Stage tests. There will be a letter to accompany the reports which gives more details. If you wish to discuss the report with your child’s teacher, please make an appointment.

FOHNS BBQ : After a wet start, the skies brightened and everyone had a great time. Many thanks to the volunteers who set up, ran and cleared away afterwards and to everyone for your support. The evening raised £1200 for the outdoor area and new furniture.

Thank-You: Many thanks for your Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers, the scheme has now closed and we have sent off our order.

Lost Property: the office has various items of lost property, including purses, wallets, keys etc.

WELL DONES: This will be on Monday as we had the musical concert this morning.

ACTIVITIES/VISITS: new reception and nursery children visited with their parents this week.  Y3 visited the village library. The governors met to discuss the school’s finance.

OUT OF SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS: Will go on next week’s newsletter.

Owl Value of the month : Teamwork

Yours sincerely
