Reception Times 14 October 2016

Friday 14th October

This Week:

What a superb celebration of the Harvest Festival we’ve had this week. The church service was beautiful and the children did a brilliant job telling their story and singing their songs. In the classroom we have been making salt dough and cutting out numbers, building a farm shop and sorting food for the food bank. Outside we have had a wonderful celebration of all things autumn including making leaf collage hedgehogs, sorting different coloured autumn leaves andplaying with woodland creatures. Some children have had their first taste of Forest School out on the school field. One group was lucky enough to see a beautiful doe running around the tree belt! The children have made invites for their favourite teddy bears for our Teddy Bears’ Picnic next Friday.

This week we have had a visit from one of our partnership Reception teachers who was very complimentary about our Reception and Nursery.

Phonics:

In phonics we have learnt to read and write the sounds-‘b’, ‘f’, ‘e’ and ‘l’. We are practicing blending and reading green words.

Maths:

This week we have been learning to combine groups of objects and use language of addition. Can your child find different ways of adding to 5 and 6 using objects?

Learning Journeys:

Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Bonnie, Chloe and Cohen.

Notices:

Thank you for your kind donations to the food bank.

Thank you very much to everyone who walked with us to church on Thursday.

Please keep your child with you before and after school to ensure their safety.

If you are dropping off your child late (after 9am) or collecting them early (before 3.10pm) please go to the main office to avoid disruptions to the class.

Please check the Forest School board for up to date information. Group 2 children will need their full kit this Tuesday. This includes a waterproof coat and waterproof trousers. Lots of the coats we had this Tuesday were not waterproof. On your child’s forest day they should wear everyday clothes rather than school uniform. If there is a problem with your child’s forest school kit, please let us know before Tuesday morning to avoid a delayed departure.

Next week:

Individual school photographs are on Monday.

On Friday we will be hosting a Teddy Bears’ Picnic to raise money for NSPCC and ChildLine. Teddies are invited and we are suggesting a small donation if you can. The children will be cooking and preparing a little picnic to share. Your child has made a label which we will place on the bears when we get here on Friday morning.

Have a lovely time tonight at The Sun and a great weekend.
