This week we have been joining in with the Whole School anti-bullying week by focusing on what makes us special and how we can be good friends. Some children wrote ‘good friend’ certificates for their friends! Outside we have been looking at ourselves in the mirror and drawing our faces, writing down what makes us special and thinking about our similarities and differences. Inside we have been thinking about our friends are and why they are good friends to us. We have also been creating collage pictures. Today is Children in Need day so the children have been decorating Pudsey Bear biscuits! We have started learning some Christmas carols.
In phonics we have learnt to read and write the sounds-‘x’ and ‘qu’. We are practicingsegmenting and writing words.
This week we have been learning tocount items into a set and match to a written and spoken numeral. We have also been learning to count to 20 in ones and to 100 in tens. Some children even made a maths video using an iPad! Can your child chant numbers to 20 while playing hide and seek?
Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Ella and Mason.
Reminder: Please make sure your child’s clothing is named. We have 36 setsof the same uniform! This includes their shoes, spare clothes and Forest School kit, hats, scarves and gloves. If you find that your child has come home with someone else’s things, please drop them back into school. It is best not to send in any special belongings including clothing as they may get dirty or ruined while your child is painting, cooking, model making, playing in the mud kitchen and digging in the sand pit. Lost property is kept on the bench in our cloakroom. Please feel free to come in and look through it when we have finished letting the children go at the end of the day.
Friday 2nd December – Christmas Fair – 5-7pm
Thursday 15th Dec – Christmas Carol Concert at St Peter’s Church – 9.30-10.30am
We will be focusing on American Thanksgiving which is this Thursday.
Please check the Forest School board for up to date information. Group 2 children will need their full kit on Tuesday. This includes awaterproof coat and waterproof trousers.Gloves (preferably waterproof), a scarf and a hat will be needed over the winter months. On your child’s forest day they should wear everyday clothes rather than school uniform however your child will need to bring in some shoes for when they are back in class. If there is a problem with your child’s forest school kit, please let us know before Tuesday morning to avoid a delayed departure.
Please make sure your child has a named PE kit (black shorts and a white t-shirt)in a separate drawstring bag (to avoid confusion) on their peg at all times.
Thank you very much for your kind donations to our Christmas Fair. It is Non-uniform this Friday again and we welcome your donations of bottles (wine, bubble bath etc.) for the grown ups’ tombola at the Christmas Fair.
Enjoy your weekend!
