The children were very excited today as we have been building and decorating our Christmas tree. They have been working hard this week making salt dough and decoupage decorations. This week we have been focusing on The Gingerbread Man and have been reading lots of different versions of the story. Some children have been putting on puppet shows of the story! Can your child tell you the story of The Gingerbread Man? We also have made some posters for the Teddy Tombola which will be happening tonight at the Christmas Fair. We have been learning some Christmas carols, including one in sign language, ready for the Christmas carol concert! Outside the children have been focusing on birds. We have made pine cone bird feeders, learnt the names of some different English birds, painted bird watercolours and used our binoculars to search for birds.
In phonics we have been learning how to use magnet boards to make words using different sounds. We have also started learning letter names and writing capital letters (A and B so far).
This week we have been learning about coins and money. Can your child recognise 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p and £1 coins? Why don’t you practice using coins at our Christmas Fair tonight?! (Worth a try…?!)
Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Izzy and Jayden.
Head lice!Thank you for checking your child’s hair. Please do continue to do so. Girls should keep their hair up at school to avoid catching head lice. See https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/head-lice/pages/treatment.aspxfor advice on how to tackle the problem.
Reminder: Please make sure your child’s clothing is named. We will be continuing to lay out lost property outside next week. Any unclaimed items at the end of term will be donated to FOHNs for their Second Hand Uniform shop.
TONIGHT – Christmas Fair – 4:30-7pm See you there!
