This week we have been enjoying reading ‘The Gruffalo’s Child’ and doing activities surrounding the story. We have been matching the characters to their shadows, ordering the characters by height and making up alternative endings to the story. On Friday we began our Friday cookery classes which will be led by a member of the Reception team each week. Miss Persaud and our first group of children enjoyed cooking ‘Gruffalo Crumble’.
Outside we have been printing houses, reading different fairy tales and experimenting with mixing colours of paints.
Phonics is going well. We are continually assessing children to ensure that they are getting personalised provision.
This week we have been learning to count teen numbers of objects and match sets of numbers to a written and spoken numeral. We have been learning different ways of recording our counting.
Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Callum, Alex, Ella and Imogen.
PE kits should be in school at all times.
We already have lots of unnamed jumpers and cardigans collecting in our cloakroom. Please make sure your child’s clothes are named.
Please remember that we lock the gates and doors at 9am. If you are late, please take your child to the office for minimal disruption to the class.
Please enquire at the office if you are interested in finding out more information about our wrap around care (Owl Club).
Please encourage children not to bring toys and jewellery into school. If children would like to do show and tell they may draw pictures or stick photographs onto a WOW sheet. We have a stash of WOW sheets in our cloakroom!
Forest School Group 2 this Tuesday (24th). Thank you to those who have offered to help already. Forest School can’t run without support from parents. We are currently one parent short for this Tuesday’s visit.
PE on Monday.
We will be focusing on some stories by Eric Carle during the week and talking about the weather (how English of us!).
Enjoy your weekend!
