Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Reception Times 28 September 2018

We have had another busy week.  Miss Mayall went on Phonics training for two days and was covered by Mrs G-A.  Inside we have been looking at our facial features using mirrors and drawing our observations.  We have been finding out about objects that are magnetic and non-magnetic.  We have also been using mixed media to create different printed backgrounds using Autumn colours.

Outside we have been making seed packets and printing sunflowers using the appropriate colours.

Miss Mayall made playdough with the Learning Journey children.

Thank you for supporting our Go Gold Day, we have raised a lot of money and awareness for the Childhood cancer charity.

In phonics we have learnt to read and write the sounds-‘d’, ‘t’ and ‘i’ . We have also been practicing reading last week’s sounds at speed.

This week we have been practising our number skills including how to subitise numbers on a dice.  We made patterns out of fruit on our fruit kebabs .  Can your child recognise the spots on a dice?

Learning Journeys:

Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Burl, Corey, India and Sophia.

Thank you to those who could make it to our Phonics and Maths meeting and for passing on the information.  Please see Miss Persaud if you would like a copy of the handouts.

For safety reasons please keep your children with you at the beginning and end of the day.

 Next week:

We will be focusing on the story of Handa’s Surprise.

Forest school starts on Tuesday with Group 1.  Thank you to the volunteers who have signed up already.  Please can children in the morning group come already dressed in their waterproofs and wellies.  The afternoon group should bring their forest clothes in a bag.  Please make sure all items are named.  Children going to the forest do not need to wear school uniform.

Have a nice weekend.
