Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Reception Times 3 November 2017

This Week:

What a wonderful start to the new term! Our book week focusing on Room on the Broom has been wonderful and the children have thoroughly enjoyed the activities and storytelling we have been doing. Inside we have made flying witch models and raced them, learnt about rhyming words and made up lots of magic spells. Can your child think of some rhyming words for a magic spell?

Outside we have made broomsticks to fly around on, created Room on the Broom puppet shows and designed our own broomsticks for the witch and her friends. The children in Group 1 had a wonderful time making wishing wands in the forest.

Each of the children had their photograph taken on Thursday and looked very smart.

Excellent effort from everyone with their Room on the Broom costumes today, we had a very fun, spooky day!

Thank you for your lovely WOW! Sheets. Our display looks amazing.

Thank you for your well wishes for our Ofsted inspection on Tuesday. We are waiting to hear the result.

Phonics & Maths:

In Phonics we have learnt our new sounds w, th, y and z. Thank you for helping your child to practice these at home. We are nearly at the end of Set 1 sounds and will be assessing children in the coming weeks.

In Maths we have been learning to use language surrounding capacity including full, empty and half full, more and less. Can your child use language surrounding capacity?

Next Week:

We are continuing with our work on Room on the Broom.

Learning Journeys:

Learning Journey children will be Mae, Harrison and Freddie.

Notices:

Does anyone have a small (1-2y/2-3y) old witch’s outfit that we could use for a display please?

If you would like your child to wear wellies in the garden please make sure they bring a pair of clean shoes to wear in the classroom and that the wellies are clearly named. When purchasing wellies please consider the sole\grip as your child may be climbing in them.

Forest School for Group 2 on Tuesday 7th November. Thank you to parents who have signed up to help.

Please can all items of clothing and shoes be named.

Please keep younger children with you in our outdoor area.

Enjoy your Bonfire Night celebrations over the weekend and stay safe!
