We have had a lovely week continuing with our Space theme. The children have made information books about the planets, made space vehicle models and played with the moon sand. We have also been thinking of ways we can look after our own planet such as recycling and saving energy and water.
Outside the children have enjoyed making Minion stick puppets (they’re aliens, right?!), creating space pictures with chalk and black paper and creating collages.
Changeover morning went well – the children enjoyed spending time with their new teachers and making things to go up in their new classrooms. The children have been really enthusiastic about being in Year 1. They said they were nervous about playing on the big playground so we tried that out on Thursday and they had a wonderful time!
Phonics is going well. We are continually assessing children to ensure that they are getting personalised provision.
This week we have been learning comparative and superlative language surrounding length, capacity and weight: taller, longer, shorter, tallest, longest, shortest, full, half full, empty, more, less, most, least, heavier, lighter, heaviest and lightest. We have had lots of fun weighing and measuring cuddly toys and dinosaurs.
Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Elodie, Victoria, Jayden and Grace.
