We have had a great week this week learning about keeping healthy. We have been making healthy lifestyles posters, thinking about different fruits and vegetables and ways of getting enough exercise. On Tuesday we had a wonderful morning celebrating May Day. Thank you to those who were able to attend- the children loved performing to an audience!! We had our photographs taken on Wednesday, all looking very smart.
Outside we have been thinking about spring time. Children have had the opportunity to harvest sunflower seeds and plant them. We have also planted other plants in our raised beds. Today the children have enjoyed looking at the tadpoles and thinking about what might happen to them as they grow.
Phonics & Maths:
In Phonics we are working towards children’s individual targets.
In Maths we have learnt the names of 3d shapes and how to use a balance scale to compare weights and use language of heavier and lighter. Did you know that some small items can be heavier than some big items?!
We will be thinking about how children’s lives might have been different in the past, focusing on Victorian children. We will be learning about jobs, school, clothes and toys. We will be thinking about the different ways of gathering information such as using the internet and books. If your child would like to create some work or a poster on this theme with you at home, we would love to share it with the class at school. Please make sure your child knows where they found the information for their work (e.g. on the Internet / in a non-fiction book).
Please complete and return the homework sent out over the Easter holidays if you have not already done so. Thank you to those who have already done so.
Please return the permission slip for our visit to Stratford Butterfly Farm (on paper or via ParentMail) by Friday 18th May.
Forest school group 1 on Tuesday 8th May. Please can the morning group come ready to leave and the afternoon group come with their waterproofs and wellies in a named bag. Please send children with an extra carrier bag for their dirty kit, preferably named. Please make sure you have checked the Forest School board so that you know which group your child is now in. Thank you for signing up to help.
Please focus on practicing writing at home with your child. We are looking for correct letter formation and children sounding out words for themselves. We are doing lots of writing in school too!
Please keep children with you on the playground before and after school.
