Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Foundation Stage Friday – 26 September

We are currently trying a new way to share information about children’s learning with their parents. Each week we hope to follow four children and provide their parents with a summary of some of things they have been involved in and some ideas of what we may focus on in the future. The children last week were Ewen, Hannah, Naomi and Ben. This week we have focused on Anna, Sydney, Evie and Samuel. We will send home a sheet to collect information from you a week before your child’s turn. This helps us to plan experiences for them. Thank you to those who have already done so

Here are some of the things that we have been doing this week:

  • .Talking about Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and tasting apples dipped in honey, a symbol of sweetness and of the hope that the coming year will be full of good things.
  • Reception children and Key Stage 1 attended Collective Worship with Mrs Collins.
  • Enjoying the stories of Five Minutes Peace, A Piece of Cake, The Gotcha Smile (Yellow Room) Farmer Duck, Wishmoley, (Red Room)
  • Read Write Inc.

Reception children have been

  • Learning the sounds I, n, p, g, o. and how to write these sounds correctly.

 Part time children have been

  • learning the sound c.
  • continuing with the letters and sounds phonics programme working on sitting and listening to different sounds made by percussion instruments. Playing the instruments and learning the difference between loud and quiet (soft) sounds.

Please help them to find objects at home that begin with our sound of the week and bring them for the display table. Next week’s sound will be d.

  • Enjoying stories I’m not cute, Little Copy Cub, Farmer Duck and the song Old Macdonald had a Farm.

Next Week

Tuesday and Wednesday Mrs Macdonald will be at Hill End Outdoor Centre in Oxford to renew her Outdoor First Aid Certificate (fingers crossed the weather is kind)

There will be a supply teacher Mrs Amanda Gibbard-Atherton (Mrs G-A to the children) in Foundation Stage on Monday and Tuesday.

Our focus children will be Lexi, Maisey K, Lotta and Thomas.
