Foundation Stage News 27 June

Here are some of the things that we have been doing this week:

  • Observing our caterpillars emerging from their chrysalides. All five have survived and we shall release the butterflies into the garden.
  • Painting butterflies.
  • All children enjoyed PE on the field. Please ensure that they have suitable shoes for running in on a Monday and Wednesday.
  • The Reception children visited their new class room.
  • Making patterns on bunting.
  • Painting a castle to play in and looking at reference books from the library about castles.
  • We had a visit from Sir Tony Baldry and then discussed what new laws the children would make. How about Mummies and Daddies don’t have to work on Saturday and Sunday.

Reception children

  • Looking at how to use non-fiction books.

Read Write Inc.

Blue Group

  • Using their phonic knowledge to read and write simple words and sentences.

Green Group

  • Using their phonic knowledge to read and write simple words and sentences.

Nursery children have been

  • Listening to stories.
  • Singing traditional nursery rhymes and ring games.

Please help them to

  • Be familiar with some traditional rhymes.
  • find objects at home that begin with our sound of the week and bring them for the display table. Next week’s sound will be g.

Next Week

Forest School group 1 will be going to the forest all day please come at 9am. Please ensure that children have their full kit. Waterproof coats and trousers are essential whatever the weather as they protect from stinging nettles and ticks. They do not need a packed lunch as we shall be cooking it in the forest.

Thursday new children shall be visiting.

Friday is Open Afternoon. If you are visiting older siblings you are welcome to come in and visit us too.
