Foundation Stage News

Here are some of the things that we have been doing this week:

  • Practising and performing our May Day Dance. Didn’t they do well!
  • Combining media eg. painting, collage and printing to create our own individual pond pictures.
  • Helping the new children to settle in.

Reception children

Have been learning about time, clocks and the vocabulary associated with time eg clock face, long hand, short hand, hours, minutes, o’clock times, days of the week and months of the year etc

Read Write Inc.

Blue Group

  • Reviewing set 1 sounds, focus ng and nk blending them in simple words.

Green Group

  • Reviewing set 2 sounds and learning new sound oy as in ‘boy’.
  • Using their phonic knowledge to read and write a simple sentence.

Nursery children have been

  • Listening to stories.
  • Singing traditional nursery rhymes
  • Counting backwards from 5.

Please help them to

  • Be familiar with some traditional rhymes.
  • find objects at home that begin with our sound of the week and bring them for the display table. Next week’s sound will be z.

Next Week

Bank Holiday Monday  

Forest School will begin on Tuesday 13th May. Please return Forest forms. I have had to review the Forest School groups so please check which group your child is in as it may have changed. We are unable to go unless we have at least one parent helper for each session so please sign up on the parent’s rota thank you.
