Foundation Stage Newsletter 13/02/15

Here are some of the things that we have been doing this week

  • Spending some quiet and reflective time in the prayer space
  • Listening to the story ‘How do dinosaurs get well soon?’
  • Lots of imaginative play in the water tray making medicine for the dinosaurs
  • Comparing the size and volume of different syringes.
  • Counting in tens to 100.
  • .Creating some bone backing paper for a display and finding out the names of major bones.
  • Talking about cold weather words.
  • Reception children attended KS1 Collective Worship with Mrs Collins and talked about the meaning of peace.
  • Making and eating pancakes an early Shrove Tuesday.
  • Listening to Julia Donaldson stories that our friends have brought in from home

Reception Read Write Inc

Both groups have revised the sounds ay and ee and learnt the new sound igh as in high.

Blue Group

Blue Group have been using the Read Write Inc Ditty reading and writing books and are working hard on how to hold a sentence in their head before writing it down,

Green Group

Green Group worked on Read Write Inc. Ditty Book 2 story 2.

They have read a story, practiced the correct formation of letters, filled in the missing words in a sentence and then written a given sentence.

 After Half Term

Forest School Group 1- lots of warm layers, thick socks, hats and gloves please

School shoes- please ensure your child has wellies or substantial shoes for outside that they can manage themselves(no laces)

Keep a look out in the holiday for news and information about Chinese New Year as it starts on Thursday and we shall be finding out about it when we return. Good excuse not to cook, go out for a Chinese instead!
