Can we please remind parents to say goodbye to their child at the gate, ensuring they have all the things they need, before they come into the cloakroom. We have a very small cloakroom and only one door to get 60 children through. Obviously, if you need to speak to a member of staff in the morning, please feel free to come in. However, if your concern is not urgent, after school is a better time to talk as we can give you our full attention. Mornings are very busy and staff need to be in the classroom to settle the children and get them started on activities. Thank you so much for your support and understanding with this.

The Big Question
We have been beginning to work on our big question ‘Do we have better toys than our Grandparents did?’. Our questions this week have been ‘What toys do we play with now?’ and ‘What toys did we play with when we were little?’. We have been using words like ‘old’, ‘new’ and ‘a long time ago’ in speaking and listening activities. We have been using the computers to draw pictures and type about our favourite toys. We have thought about what are toys are made of and have been identifying materials like fabric, plastic, metal, wood and glass.
In geography we have been finding out what the Isle of Struay is like. We have identified and sorted human and physical geographical features and used coordinates to find and draw features on maps of the Isle of Struay. In the computer room we found maps of the world, UK and Scotland to locate the Isle of Coll. In science we have sorted different materials and considered their properties, then we were detectives and searched for the different materials our school is made of.
Please remember children should always have their full PE kit in school at all times, this includes trainers, colour team shirt, socks, shorts, tracksuit bottoms and spare underwear. A number of children have had to change into their kit due to wet and muddy clothes after playtimes.
