The Big Question
We have started our new big questions this week. We are trying to answer ‘What would aliens think of life on planet Earth?’. Some strange green alien goo and space light rings turned up in the Year 1 garden. Miss Cunningham also heard a loud bang and saw a flash of light! There was also an envelope with our new big question in! We worked in groups to think about what we knew about Earth. We have painted pictures of aliens. We turned our floor robots called Beebots into spaceships and we had to give them instructions to help them move from one planet to another. We thought about what materials can be found on planet Earth and how we would describe them to the aliens.
We have started our new big questions this week. In history we are trying to answer ‘What was it like when the Queen came to the throne in 1953?’ We learnt all about the coronation and the different parts of the ceremony. Thank you to all the family and friends that shared their memories or sent in artefacts to help us. In science we are trying to answer ‘Could you be the next Lightning McQueen?’ We got a letter for Lightning McQueen asking us to help him to be faster in his next race.
Please remember children should always have their full PE kit in school at all times, this includes trainers, colour team shirt, socks, shorts, tracksuit bottoms and spare underwear. We still have children without team colour t-shirts, which causes great difficulty when grouping children in PE lessons. We also have children missing the appropriate kit for outdoor PE. We go outside for PE, unless it is pouring down with rain and it has been very cold over the last few weeks.
If your child borrows an item of clothing from our Spare Clothes box, please ensure that they are returned. We are running low on spares! Thank you for your help with this.
