International Schools Award – Mrs Hope and Mrs Nixon travelled down to London this week to receive the International Schools’ Award 2017-20. The award and special flag were presented to Mrs Nixon by Victoria Prentice, our local MP, at the British Council Headquarters, in recognition of our commitment to the global curriculum and our work in preparing children to be citizens of the 21st century. Look out for the flag flying from our flag-pole!
Incredible Edible Gardening Club:
A huge thank you to Mrs Tullet, Mrs Lily and Mrs Kjeldys for running our gardening club this term as Incredible Edible volunteers. Through Incredible Edible Hooky and their funding applications, we secured a £1000 from Tesco for Bags in Banbury and £750.00 from the Oxfordshire Community Foundation and this initially provided us with enough money to buy a Greenhouse, which was installed on Sunday 26th November. The Greenhouse will make a fantastic contribution to our growing plans for next year and beyond, both in gardening club and curriculum science.
We had some more exciting news last week! Firstly Incredible Edible Hooky has secured a £2000 donation from Gregg’s the Bakers and secondly Nicholson’s Nurseries and Plant Centre at North Aston have donated 8 x 2.4 sleepers, a Cherry Tree, Loganberry, Blackcurrant and Blackberry bushes, seed trays and a beautiful wooden bench. We are really grateful to all the volunteers for their time and support and also to the various funding sources who have supported us. Look out for the opportunity to join gardening club on the Spring Term clubs letter.
