Newsletter 10 March 2017

Dear Parents

Mrs Belgrove is attending the Oxfordshire Headteachers’ Conference in Stratford; she will return next week inspired by all the speakers and seminars on offer.

Parents Evening – The School Lunch Company will be serving tasters prior to the launch of the new menu after Easter – pick up a sample before, after or between appointments!
The Computer Suite will be open with the laptops set up for parents to complete the NfER Parental Survey, and the Consultation on the new funding formula – see links below – Governors will be on hand to help with responses on the latter if needed!.

Parent Survey – please complete the online NfER survey as soon as possible at – using the school number 202340 and password HXHH – so that we can learn more about your views on different aspects of school life. It is completely confidential and anonymous.

Funding Formula – Please support the campaign opposing cuts to our funding by completing the consultation (an information sheet to help with responses is attached) before it closes on 22 March at

The Book Fair is open after school today and Monday in Room 1 (Miss Persaud’s old Red Room), and will be available to parents during Parents Evening to purchase books (the school receives valuable commission on sales to buy books for school at discounted prices).

School Meals: The new menu has been finalised after consultation with the School Council and will be sent home nearer the end of term. The cost of a school meal will increase in the Summer term to £2.20, therefore we need all outstanding balances and payments for the last week of term to be paid by Monday 3 April before the price increase. Remember, all meals should be paid for in advance, by Monday or the first working day of the week – we currently have £280.15 outstanding.

Extra-curricular activities : Science club has now finished, other clubs continue until w/c 27 March, apart from the Yoga club which will have a catch-up session on Thursday 6 April to make up for yesterday’s cancelled session.

Gardening Club
We are working with Hook Norton Incredible Edible team to access some funding to develop the fruit and vegetable garden area. Children will be involved in the design of the new area. However, for this to be successful, we really need a gardening club to oversee the maintenance of the garden. If any adult would be interested in volunteering once a week to run an after-school Gardening Club please let Mrs Hope or Mrs Voce know.

FOHNS: Next week sees the start of the Auction of Promises with the on-line event launched on Monday 13 March at, followed by the live Auction on Saturday 1 April – see separate flyer for details.
Quiz at the Sports & Social on Friday 24 March, 7.30 for 8pm start, funds to FOHNS.

Head Lice: please check children’s hair, and treat the whole family if found – cases reported in Year 3.

WELL DONE! This week we have said well done to:- Georgia Hambidge, Rowan Bird, Atalanta Yost, Darcey Davis-Batchelor, Elsbeth de Beer, Amelia Aley, Paige Bowhill, Freya Rennie, Chloe Webb, Mia Green
