Dear Parents

This week we held our first Governors’ meeting of the school year. Mr Scott Orchard was elected Chair. We welcomed Roger Cooke onto the governing body as a Church Foundation governor.

Free School Meals: If you think your child may be eligible for Free School Meals, please fill out a form, available from the office. (Even if your child already gets a free school meal as a R/Y1/Y2 child.) The school receives much needed additional funding for children in receipt of Free School Meals. School Meal payments: A reminder that meals need to be paid for in advance – either by parentmail at, or by cash/cheque payable to OCC sent into school in a named envelope on MONDAYS for the week – we have £320.95 owing to school which makes it very difficult for us to manage.

Reminder: Please inform the school if your child has, or been in contact with, slapped cheek or the parvovirus We have a child with a hereditary disease who could be become very ill from these infection

Extra-curricular Activities

Please let the club leader (or school office) know in advance, if your child cannot attend a club, to avoid having to spend time chasing absences.

Friends Annual General Meeting/School Expansion – Thursday 24 September, 7.30pm The Friends will be holding their AGM on Thursday 24 September in Yellow Room – please join us for some light refreshment and an opportunity to put forward ideas for the coming year.  We will also be updating you on the School Expansion. Parents of younger children are particularly welcome – we need your support!

Family Fun Afternoon: Sunday 20 September 2.30-4.30 at the Baptist Church. Donations towards Oscar’s Fund.

Name the Bears: Charlotte and Abigail Nunneley and Imogen Nicholls ran a name the bear competition for Cancer Research last term.  The winners are Susie Holiday (Bobby) and Maizey Jack (Ella).  They each win a bear.

Well Done!

Each week, we celebrate particularly special achievements of children. This week we have said well done to Benjamin Muller,Thomas Hewitt-Gray, Edie Cooper, Elsbeth de Beer, Olivia Weeks, Bethany Jarvis, Matt Haldane, Matthew Campbell, Oscar Hawthorne, Rosie Petre, Annabelle Butler, Olivia Knight, Cavan Tanner.

Out of School Achievements: Congratulations to Taryn Wyatt who, with her dog, came 2nd in a dog show, Scarlett Ward for earning a Blue Peter Badge and a Blue Peter Sports Badge, Ellie Newby 25m swimming, Charlotte Nunneley Grade 1 Ballet, Isabella Nunneley Preparatory Grade Tap.
