Dear Parents

Christmas Service; Thank you to everyone who took part in yesterday morning’s service in church, the children sang and read beautifully. Thank you to Mrs Collins for her talk.

Parent Governor Election: Matthew Fowler has been voted as the new Parent Governor joining the governing body.

Harry Bartlett CupsCongratulations to Luke Sampson and to Iris Fledderus who have been awarded our highest honour – the Harry Bartlett Cup for their outstanding contributions to the school.

House Point Awards; The winner this term of the House Point Challenge is the Red Team.  Well done Reds!

Activities/Visits: Well done to the recorder group who performed to various groups around the village. Thank you Mrs Wood who has given up a great deal of time to get them to such a high standard.

Thanks to the kitchen staff for a fantastic Christmas Dinner enjoyed by the children and staff yesterday. There were some very festive hats on display!

The Snowman Concert in church at the weekend was a great success.  It was a wonderful opportunity for our choir to sing with a professional orchestra, with profits being donated to us for Foundation Stage musical instruments. Thank you to Mrs Robertson, Mrs Wood, Keith  Allen and Jane Orchard.

FOHNS: Thank you to the Friends who have worked incredibly hard this term raising funds for new tables and chairs. Coming up next year there are the New Year Candlelit Ball (Saturday 7 January), children’s discos (Thursday 12 January) and film night and summer BBQ; further dates/details to follow.

Year 4 will be swimming on Tuesday 17 January – please remember swimming kits (letter to follow)!

Head Lice: There have been outbreaks in Year 3 and Year 4 reported.  Please check and treat your children’s hair over the Christmas break so we can start the New Year nit-free!

Crossing Patrol: Remember there will be no Crossing Patrol for several weeks when we return as Teash recovers from her operation.  I have requested a stand-in but the county council do not provide cover. (School staff are not allowed to step in- we are not trained or insured.) Please take extra care when crossing the road and please park considerately to ensure the safety of pedestrians as well as keeping drives unblocked.

We return to school on Wednesday 4 January, including all FULL TIME children in the Foundation Stage. Part Time (Nursery) children return on Friday 6 January.

Expansion Open Afternoon:  Friday 13 January at 2.00pm with refreshments in the hall.  Everyone is welcome to tour the school and see the new classrooms.

Christmas Production donations amount raised:  KS1 £223.21 & KS2 £318.14 – total of £541.35.  Thank you very much.

Poppy Appeal: Thank you from the Royal British Legion – £386.18 was raised through the poppy appeal.
