Newsletter 2 November 2018

Dear Parents

Next week Y6 children will be selling poppies on behalf of the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal. We have poppies, enamel pins, wrist bands, bracelets, wooden crosses, reflectors, erasers, pencil sharpeners, pencils, rulers and snap band rulers – suggested donations from 50p – £3.00.

Governors will also be showing around prospective candidates for the new head teacher position next week and the week after.  Interviews will be taking place at the end of November.

Activities this week: Y6 had an amazing, interactive heart workshop led by the Heart Research UK. This included a virtual journey through the heart!  Y3 had a wonderful visit to Hill End where they lived as Stone Age people for the day, building shelters and making spears and bread. Y4 presented a very interesting assembly on all the work they have been doing this year, including some French!

FOHNS: The committee met this week to finalise arrangements for the Christmas Fair on Thursday 13th December 3.15-6.00pm. It promises to be lots of fun with plenty of stalls and games, but we need your help!  If you can man (or woman!) a stall please let us know-even if you can only manage an hour we would be very grateful.

We will be having four non-uniform Fridays to collect donations for the fair:

Friday 16th November: Pocket money toys (for little prizes)

Friday 23rd November: Chocolate (for the tombola)

Friday 30th November: Christmas decorations/wrapping paper/cards (for the Christmas stall)

Friday 7th December: Bottles (for the tombola)

This is, of course, voluntary – all children can wear casual clothes, regardless of whether they bring in a donation.

Calling all crafters!  This year we are opening up the fair to individual stall- holders, so if you would like a stall to sell your own wares, please let us know. Stalls cost £15 plus a raffle prize.

 E-mail: to book your place.

Winter Ball:  There are still tables/spaces left for the Winter Ball in February.  Tables seat up to 10 people, however you do not need to get 10 people together to come!  The ball committee can fill the tables with couples or groups as necessary.

Reminders: Elf Owls Assembly Wednesday 7/11/18

Parents’ Evenings: Thursday 8 November (5.00-7.30pm) and Monday 12 November (3.30-6.00pm). Sign up on sheets outside classrooms, or contact the office if you are unable to get into school. (

Attendance: Well Done to Y3 for Almost Full Attendance last week.

Well Done:  This week we have said well done to: Cohen Stubbs, Effie Oakey, Imogen Jones, Zeti Jarvas, Emily Holdsworth, James McArdle, Josh Stratford, All Y4, Emily Monelle, Emma Barnett, Becky Milne, Beau Lawrence.
