Dear Parents

FOHNS have launched their new campaign to raise funds for the new Foundation outdoor area and new chairs and tables for every classroom.  Vanessa Porter and Laura Wyatt spoke to children in assembly this morning to get their ideas for fund raising or sponsoring a chair. New furniture will transform all the classrooms and benefit all of the children.

Individual/Family group photographs: Next Monday 5 October – best uniform please – everyone will be taken individually but for a family group please sign up at the office first thing on Monday morning if you haven’t sent in a slip (or e-mail by 9am Monday).

Message from CalAid co-ordinators:

Following the success of our Hook Norton CalAid collection (where thanks to the Hook Norton community we sent over 236 sleeping bags, 149 tents & 600+ pairs of new socks to the Calais Refugee camp ‘The Jungle’ ), we are now busy planning our next collection of building materials and first aid equipment on 18th October at Hook Norton Youth Hall.

This time, we have also chosen to support a grass roots charity ‘TeddyAid’ which is a child to a child project that asks UK children to spare one of their teddy bears or soft toys for a Syrian refugee child.

This is where we need Hook Norton Primary School pupils’ help!

We are asking children to donate a Teddy Bear or cuddly toy and bring into school on Friday 16th October where a van will be waiting in the playground to collect all of the donations ready to ship to Greece the following week.

Here are some donation guidelines:

  1. Refugee children are generally on the move so smaller, light soft toys are advisable.
  2. Please donate clean and tidy toys only.
  3. Soft Toys need to be individually wrapped in a freezer bag or similar for ease of transit and distribution.
  4. Children are encouraged to write a small note or draw a picture on their toy. These notes bring great pleasure to the children (both giving and receiving!). We hope they also make the refugee children feel welcome.
  5. Please attach the notes by tying around the toy neck with string. Please DO NOT use pins as these are not safe for tiny hands (or mouths!)

If you would like to support either TeddyAid or our CalAid Ox15 collection, need to know more information, want to help with collating donations, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us via our Facebook page CalAid OX15.
