Dear Parents

Last night Chipping Norton school had their annual awards evening and 8 out of the 12 awards for Y7 went to ex-pupils from Hook Norton School as well as the majority of nominees! Well done to all of those involved – we are very proud of you!

Reminder: Incredible Edible Grand opening on Saturday 23rd June with tea and cakes from 2-4pm. Thank you for your kind donations of cakes and cookies. Please come along and see what an ‘incredible’ job our gardeners have done.

Non-Uniform Day next Friday 29th June: Children may wear their own casual clothes in return for pocket money toys or sweets (no chocolate) for the Family BBQ prizes.

Activities this week:
N: Made bug hotels and went on minibeast hunts.
R: Everything to do with the World Cup, including painting flags and designing football strips.
Y1/Y2: Learnt seaside poems, designed seaside towns and wrote holiday brochures about them.
Y3: Newspaper reports on ‘The Witches’, Virtual Athletics.
Y4: Made Big Ben out of straws and learnt how sound gets to our ears.
Y5: Learnt about insect life cycles and Roman numerals, researched Ancient Egypt, took part in the CNS Bake Off.
Y6: Have had a wonderful time in Yenworthy, trying out all sorts of new activities such as kayaking, stream walking, coasteering as well as developing their independence.

I went to the Department for Education in London this week with Scott Orchard, our Chair of Governors and our MP Victoria Prentis, where I met with Nick Gibb, the Minister for Education, to talk about our school budget.

Congratulations to Alfie Simmonds who won the Y5 Bake Off with his light –as- a- feather cupcakes. He will be representing Hook Norton at the CNS partnership finals.

Attendance: Well done to Forest Owls and Year 3 for Almost Full Attendance 11-15 June.

Out of School Achievements : Swimming- Attie Yost Personal Survival Level 2 and Stage 6, Lauren Barnett Stage 4, Violet Robey Student First Aid, Rosie Brown Diamond Blue Peter Badge.
