Dear Parents

Sainsbury’s Active Kids : the voucher scheme has now closed – please hand any remaining vouchers in to the office the week after the May holiday so they can be counted.

Permanent Menu Change MONDAYS – Week 1 : Option 1: Turkey Meatballs OR Option 2:Stuffed Peppers with Couscous & vegetables Week 3 : Option1: Macaroni cheese with garlic bread OR Option 2: Salmon Nibbles with New Potatoes

Group 2 Gardening Club starts on Tuesday 02/6/15 for 5 weeks.

Global Learning:  We now have 16 schools signed up for our global learning programme which is great news!  Miss Hope is leading a weekly assembly on different aspects of global learning and leading the training programme for all the schools.

Swimming: As we’ve been touching on Water Polo and Personal Survival during school swimming lessons, children may want to continue their fun and learning with Debbie Massey, our swimming instructor, at The Lido in Chipping Norton this summer.

Currently Water Polo takes place on a Sunday evening from 6.30pm to 7.30pm; Rookie Lifeguard is on a Thursday after school, 3.45pm to 4.45pm and Synchro is on a Monday evening from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. Attendance: Well done to Year 2 and Year 6 for Full Attendance 11-15 May. 

WELL DONES: This week we have said ‘Well Done’ to all Year 1, Oskar Wahlen, Scarlett Ward, Jessica Rogers, Chay Casson, All Year 4, Morgan Wollerton, Joe Dix, Fred Neal, Lottie Denne, Oliver Winhammar, Kieran Casson.

Mrs Belgrove’s Stars of the Week: Daniel Rayner for being so organised and Ethan Parrott for his harmonica playing.

ACTIVITIES/VISITSY5 attended the mixed Tag Rugby Partnership tournament where they all played brilliantly, winning the large school championship! William Ingham and Eleanor Bailey were awarded Sporting Champion certificates for their contribution to the tournament – well done! A big thank you to Mark Ingham for all his support with coaching.

Year 5 children have been busy with their cycling proficiency all week, led by our parent volunteers.

Year 3 had a spectacular afternoon of science setting off their volcanoes as part of their angry earth Big Question. Miss Hope invited the science teacher from Sibford School to lead the experiments which involved a Bunsen burner, everyone in lab coats and goggles and mixing acetic acid and bicarbonate to mimic volcanic eruptions on the playground!

Year 5 children had the opportunity to be the first to use our new set of iPads to take photographs of the event.

Year 2 visited Miss Nunneley’s garden as part of their Masterchef Big Question and planted vegetables.

Year 5 have been making delicious Brazilian recipes as part of their Rainforest Big Question.

Year 6 have made a beautiful class book on Global Learning, enjoyed a rounders tournament and wrote letters to their Swedish penpals.

Year 4 had a visit last week from John Acreman who enthralled the class explaining the clothes a vicar wears.

Year 1 have been writing imaginative stories based on Little Red Riding Hood.

The whole school attended our Ascension Day and Pentecost Service at St Peter’s church.  Rev John Acreman surprised us all by appearing from behind the altar to illustrate that Jesus is there even when we can’t see him and Mrs Collins showed us how the Holy Trinity is three in one through striped toothpaste!

Staff development: Mrs Vint and Mrs Hackland attended training on supporting children with speech, language and communication difficulties, Mrs Peters attended data training, A Teaching Assistant from Holy Trinity School visited our Foundation Stage to see how we teach phonics and Mrs Crouch attended the partnership maths coordinators’ meeting at Chipping Norton School.

Sainsbury’s School Games Intra-school competition. This term’s overall winner is the Red team.

Chipping Norton School Art and Design Technology Exhibition:

Tuesday 9 June 5-7.30pm in the D&T and Art Exhibition areas. All welcome.

OUT OF SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS: Well done to: Miles Lloyd, William and Imogen Hutchinson for completing the Blenheim Fun Run.
