Dear Parents

Non-Uniform Day: Today’s Glow Gold day was a great success.  Thank you very much for your donations which will go towards supporting Children’s Cancer Charity Groups.  Everyone looked very sparkly and blingtastic!

School Meal change – next week, Thursday and Friday’s menu choices are being swapped, as follows:

Thursday 5 October : Oven Baked Breaded Fish Fillet/Cheese & Onion Pinwheel & Chips

Friday 6 October : Pasta Carbonara/Vegetarian Cottage Pie

Bag2School – bags are being distributed today to be returned to school w/c 16 October ready for 9am collection on Friday 20th. This is your chance for an Autumn declutter; give us your unwanted adults’ and children’s clothing, shoes, hats, belts, handbags, ties and soft toys. The more you donate the more money the schools receives.  Extra bags welcome – there is no limit and you can use any bin bag.

Activities this week:

Nursery:.I really enjoyed my trip to the library with nursery this week.  Karen read us a story and we chose some lovely books to bring back to school.

Reception: Made fruit skewers in a repeating pattern and enjoyed eating them afterwards!

Forest, Elf and Little Owls: Wrote about foxes and were learning about African animals.

Y3: Had a book and reading bonanza and wrote book reviews.

Y4:.Have been writing instructions for their board games in the computer suite (and will be playing them this afternoon).

Y5:  Have been composing Harvest and Autumn poetry and are getting speedier at their Daily Mile.

Y6: Enacted a Viking drama, then wrote Viking stories based on their dramatic situations.

Music Lessons: No woodwind lessons with Keith Allen next week Thursday 5th October due to the majority of pupils at PGL.

Mr Allen has a few slots for music tuition – please see the office if your KS2 child is interested in playing a woodwind instrument.

FOHNS: The AGM was a time to celebrate last year’s amazing total raised – just under £19,000!  This was a record amount and all due to the tireless hard work from the FOHNS committee led by Laura Wyatt.   The range of events was fantastic, with something to suit all pockets, with two spectacular evenings (The Auction of Promises and the Winter Ball) bringing in over £8000.  Many thanks to everyone involved and to you for your donations and support.  We have been able to equip every class with new furniture so every child can benefit from a clean, smart learning environment.  I am now showing round prospective parents and they are bowled over by our school!  Next year we will be raising towards an all-weather track around the field so more children can join Y5 in the Daily Mile and part of the field can be used all year round.

Attendance: Well Done to Y3 for Almost Full Attendance 18-22 September
