Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Newsletter 3 October

Dear Parents

I am delighted to let you know that we have achieved the Bronze School Games Mark for our Sports and PE provision. They were very impressed with our level of provision, our inter-schools competitions and extra-curricular sports clubs we offer.

Miss Hope is currently working on an application for us to become a centre of excellence for Global Learning, in recognition of the work we do to promote global citizenship through our links with schools around the world.

School expansion: Your children will be bringing home the consultation leaflet on school expansion today. You can also access the information online:

New Curriculum:  the new Learning Challenge has been very well received – children are very enthused and excited and parents are telling us that as well.  The children are enjoying finding out the answers to the Big Questions. Apparently Stone Age people used manure to build their houses…

We have also been working on Harvest with some wonderful poems and displays in progress. I was showing a prospective family around this morning and their daughter (age 3) pointed at the display of Jesus in the boat and the Fishermen in KS2 corridor and said: ‘Look at that naughty pirate’…

Attendance: Well Done to Year 6 and Year 3 for Almost Full Attendance 22-26 September 2014.

Bag2School Friday 17 October Reminder: Now is the time to have your autumn clear out of old clothing, linen, bags, belt and shoes.  Bring your bags to the study centre from Thursday 16 October, ready for collection at 9.00am on Friday 17 October.

Football Friday: From next Friday we are opening up Football Friday to all of KS2.

Bring £1 and your kit to play. Shin pads and football boots are essential.

WELL DONE!  This week we have said ‘Well Done’ to Ella Jordan, Isabella Nunneley, All Year 4, Ellis Holdsworth, Paige Bowhill, All Year 3, Tane Wallis, Max Nicholls.

School Activities: Year 5 have had a fantastic time at Liddington and been very lucky with the weather. Mrs Crouch has reported that it wasn’t a good idea for her to bounce on the trampoline so soon after her breakfast… Year 3 had a muddy Stone Age experience that was thoroughly enjoyed by all at Hill End. Mrs Macdonald has also been at Hill End for two days renewing her Outdoor First Aid. Year 1 had an exciting time with a visit from ‘Animals in Hand’ who rescue exotic pets that owners no longer want to care for.  The children all rose to the challenge holding pythons, pygmy hedgehogs, tarantulas, scorpions and giant millipedes! Miss Nunneley has been leading a very enthusiastic hockey club at lunchtimes – we will be very well prepared for the Hockey Tournament coming up.

OUT OF SCHOOL ACHIEVEMENTS: Well done to Edward Mix for his Purple Blue Peter Badge for his review of their Dr Who Special, Lucy Willis Grade 2 Musical theatre.

Christian Value of the month: Thankfulness.

Hymn of the Week: ‘Singing All Together’

Enjoy your weekend
