Dear Parents

The new woodland cabin has been installed and is so cute!  The children are so excited to be using their very own hobbit house.

School Council have reported on the new reward system and it is such a success. The children are so motivated and keen and very gracious when other teams get a house point (we’ve even had rounds of applause!) The new certificates for Well Done Assembly are also proving popular.

Social networking: Can I remind you that if you have concerns about issues to do with the school please talk to us directly.

Our E-Safety Policy states:

  • All members of the School Community are advised not to publish specific and detailed private thoughts, especially those that may be considered threatening, hurtful or defamatory.

Our Home-School Agreement states:

  • Ensure I do not use social networking sites to discuss any issues connected with school.

At the AGM last night the friends were congratulated by the school for their efforts in raising money for the new furniture and outdoor area. The new Chair is Laura Wyatt, Janeen Wilson is continuing as Treasurer, Hazel Hope and Liz Voce are joint secretaries.  Look out for the calendar of events coming up over the year.

Grand Opening Friday 4 November at 1.30pm:   The school building should be finished soon and we are planning an Open Afternoon to visit the new classes.  This will coincide with International Week 31st October- 4th November. Please let your friends and neighbours know and come and see our new classes and the wonderful work from International Week displayed in the classrooms.  Refreshments will be served by FOHNS on an international theme!

Universal Free School Meals:  To encourage all eligible children to try school meals, we will be booking in every child in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 for a school meal next Thursday.  The government ‘claws back’ money from schools who do not meet a high enough up-take of free school meals! If your child really doesn’t like the menu you can, of course bring in a packed lunch to supplement.

School Games Mark – We are delighted to have achieved the Silver School Games Mark – this Government led awards scheme was launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community.

REMINDER Years 1, 2 and 3 Nasal Flu Vaccination – we have a number of forms outstanding which should have been returned by the end of September – please return the form to school on Monday (even if you decide you do not want your child vaccinated, please return the consent form giving the reason why).  Consent forms that are not returned in time may result in the child not being able to have the flu vaccine during the school session (the school office have some spare forms if needed).  Many thanks.

Inhalers Reminder: Parents of children with inhalers in school are responsible for ensuring that medication in school is in date – please ask the class teacher to hand you their pack to check, update the form, and make a note at home to renew when required. Thank you.
