This week you may have spotted the big crane hoisting in the wall panels for the new classroom, which is now really taking shape.
Activities this week: Y4 had a wonderful Roman Day with a visit from Banbury Museum. They looked at Roman artefacts, dressed as Romans and made Roman food.
Monday was Fairtrade Day where each class learned all about Fairtrade products and cooked with Fairtrade ingredients. Mrs Nixon took a group of children to the co-op to learn more about their partnerships with Fairtrade producers.
Today we had World Book Day – there were so many amazing costumes. Some of them were so good I couldn’t recognise the children! Children did all sorts of reading and book related activities and enjoyed sharing their favourite books.
Y6 presented a range of examples of their curriculum in their sharing assembly to the school and parents, including a Shakespeare rap and portraits in the style of Picasso. The Change4Life group led us all in a dance. It was great to see the whole school (including staff and parents) shaking their groove thang!
Mrs Nixon held her last Global Learning session for the partnership – they celebrated with a world cake!
Hugh Protherough (Chair of Curriculum governors) walked around the school today looking at children’s work in books to make sure our standards and expectations are high and that all children are reaching their potential. He was impressed with what he saw.
Mrs Macdonald attended Early Years training on supporting our most disadvantaged children.
Mrs Hope was the very first customer through the doors at the new Aldi in Chipping Norton!
Sport: Our netball team, led by Mrs Voce, came back brimming with excitement from the West Oxfordshire finals where they were Runners Up. They will be representing West Oxfordshire in the Oxfordshire School Games. Well done!

FOHNS: The Quiz Night was great fun – many thanks to Kevin Hope for being the question setter, to the Friends and everyone who helped to set up, man the bar and clear away, including Ben Stowe and the Cubs. It raised £300 which will go towards new tables and chairs for all the classes (not just the new ones!).
£48 was raised from Bags2School.
The School Council Non-Uniform Day raised £211.31 for endangered animals.
Book Fair takings were £448.68 making £209.21 commission to spend on books for school. Thank you very much for your support.
