Nursery News

30th September2016

Here are some of the things we have been busy doing this week:

  • Welcoming and settling the new children. We have now admitted all of the 16 new children and all are growing in confidence and settling in well.
  • Completing Learning Journeys for Noah, Florence and Rosie. Please make an appointment with your child’s Key Person the week after you receive their Learning Journey.
  • Recognising and ordering numerals 0-5.( please support the children by practising this at home with the sheet being sent home today. It will also help with their scissor and pencil control when they cut out and colour the cards.)
  • Learning to be independent, pouring our own drinks, using the toilet and putting our own coats on.
  • Talking about harvest. Enjoying the story of The Little Red Hen and learning the song and actions to;

Oats and beans and barley grow

Oats and beans and barley grow

Oats and beans and barley grow

But not you or I or anyone know how oats and beans and barley grow.

First the farmer sows the seed. Then he stands and takes his ease.

Stamps his feet and claps his hands and turns around to view the land.

Please sing at home as learning rhymes is an important part of children’s literacy development.

  • Making salt dough currant buns for a bakers shop.
  • Cooking bread rolls
  • Mixing autumn colours and making leaf collages
  • Observing different seed heads from poppies, love in a mist and physalis.
  • Singing Happy Birthday to Kobe.
  • Looking at and saying the initial sounds in our names.

Next Week:

Monday1.30pm The afternoon children and those who stay all day on a Monday will be walking to the Library. Children will need suitable shoes     and a coat with a hood or hat.
