Happy New Year!
We have had a wonderful start back to the new term. This week we have enjoyed our book week focusing on Baboushka, a Russian folk tale about Epiphany. The children have enjoyed hearing different versions of the story. Inside we have been printing pictures of the wise men travelling to see the baby Jesus, finding out where Russia and Bethlehem are and drawing maps of her long journey and making little Matryoshka doll puppets.
Outside we have been printing Baboushka’s cabin in the snow, drawing the Russian flag and creating Bethlehem on our new Lego mat.
Mrs Collins delivered a wonderful Collective Worship on the importance of Education and teaching us about how Jewish boys and girls were educated in Jesus’s time.
Phonics & Maths:
In Phonics we have been working towards our personalised targets.
In Maths we have been learning to count, recognise and order numbers and partition numbers to 20. Can your child say how many tens and little ones are in each teen number?
We will be continuing our work on Baboushka inside. Outside we will be beginning to look for signs of Spring.
This week, Henry, Laurie, Effie and TT have had their Learning Journeys.
Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Toby, Isabelle, Kaitlyn and Sophie.
PE will begin on Monday 22nd January. Please make sure your child has NAMED a pair of black shorts and a white t-shirt in a named drawstring bag on their peg. Thank you to those who have already done this! We will keep PE kits in school until Easter when they might need a wash!
Thank you very much for your donations of boys’ pants. We now have enough spares.
Forest School group 1 on Tuesday 16th January. We currently have no parent helpers signed up for this. Please sign up on the Forest School board if you are able to help.
For your child’s safety and the safety of others, please keep your children with you in our outdoor area and in the playground before and after school.
Have a lovely weekend.
