Welcome to the Reception Class. We have had a great full week settling in to the new routine. As part of our 25 year celebration of the school on the present site the children have been very busy involving themselves in activities on our pirate theme. We have been making pirate telescopes and hats, playing with pirates and making ‘Wanted’ pirate posters. We had great fun dressing up as pirates, eating our picnic lunch in the garden and having a playtime on the new Adventure Pirate ship in the main playground. We learnt some new tricks in a Circus skills session.
We are also learning which Big Cat group we are in. We all enjoyed our reading days on Mondays for the Tigers and Thursday for the Lions.
Outside we have been painting sunflowers and printing with fruit and vegetables.
In phonics we have learnt to read and write the sound m, sound out words beginning with the same sound and used our Busy Books for the first time. Please look in your child’s book bags for an m sheet to do at home. Thank you.
We have been counting to 20 and working with numbers to 10.
Next week’s Learning Journeys will be: Tiegan and Tillie.
The school had an exhibition on Thursday evening to reminisce over the last 25 years.
Thank you very much for the donations brought in on our Pirate day to help fund the new adventure playground.
Please make sure that your child has a spare clothes bag that stays in school in case we need to change them during the school day, especially as we go into the wet and autumnal weather.
Please make sure all items of clothing and footwear are named including coats.
The new date for the Phonics and Maths meeting will be Monday 24thSeptember at 2.40pm.
We will be doing a woodland theme.
Have a nice weekend!
