Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Reception Times 15 December 2017

We have had a very short but busy week this week learning about the birth of Jesus and why we celebrate Christmas. Inside we have been decorating Christmas decorations, painting nativity scenes and thinking about how we celebrate Christmas with our families.

Outside we have been enjoying playing with the snow and painting Christmas pictures.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas Service on Thursday morning and had a very special visitor. Ask your child who John Acreman came to school dressed as!

We are looking forward to seeing you all at the Christmas Fayre tonight.

Phonics & Maths:

In Phonics we have been working towards our personalised targets. Mrs Nixon’s group have had RWI Ditty Sheet 9 this week. We have skipped some of the sheets to ensure we continue to work towards children’s targets.

In Maths we have been learning to sort 3D shapes, weigh Christmas presents and practicing matching sets of objects to a numeral.

Next Week:

Monday is Christmas dinner day. The choices are roast turkey or roast Quorn, no jacket potato option. Children can bring in a named Christmas hat to wear.

Tuesday’s menu: Crunchy Chicken or Veggie Chilli.

Miss Persaud will be doing some baking on Monday, preparing our Christmas treats for Tuesday! On Tuesday we will have our Festive Film day and eat our Christmas treats.

Tuesday 19th December we break up at 1.30pm.

Thank you for your kind donations of baked goods for the Christmas Fayre.

Term 3 will begin on Thursday 4th January.

We are expecting to begin Forest on Tuesday 16th January for Group 1. Final details to follow.

Thank you for your donations of good quality soft toys for our toy tombola tonight!

Please can we have donations of boys’ underpants for our spare clothes box?

As we are an eco-school we will not be handing out Christmas Cards at school.

The Crib Service at St Peter’s Church starts at 5pm on Christmas Eve. It is a beautiful family service and John Acreman and Mrs Collins would love to see you there! There is also a Service of Celebration on Christmas morning at 10am.

We will not issue a newsletter next week so we would like to take the opportunity to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy new year!
