This week has been a very interesting one with Mrs Wright and Mrs Warner covering for Miss Persaud and Miss Mayall on particular days. We had ‘Make me Smile’ day on Tuesday which involved us talking about what makes us happy and making violet handprints, as part of the whole-school rainbow display-to encourage positive mental health and well-being. Miss Mayall taught us how to sign ‘I can sing a Rainbow’ and to say Good morning. Can child show you the British Sign Language (BSL) signs? Mrs Collins delivered a wonderful collective worship on the value of love. We will be continuing our Understanding Christianity theme next week.
It was Forest Group 2’s turn to make wooden poppies to commemorate Remembrance Day.
Inside we have been recognising Indian foods on paper plates, looking at different images of the Hindu festival of Diwali and painting Indian elephants in our own style.
Outside we have been chalk drawing Rangoli patterns, enacting the story of Rama and Sita and painting our Diva lamps.
Miss Persaud and the Learning Journey children decorated biscuits with the face of Pudsey Bear to raise awareness about Children In Need day.
Phonics & Maths:
In Phonics we have learnt our new sounds w, th and z. Thank you for helping your child to practise these at home.
In Maths we have been learning to say the days of the week and the months of the year in order. We have also revisited repeating patterns. Does your child know what month their birthday is in? Can they make a repeating pattern with 2D shapes?
