Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Reception Times 22 June 2018

We have had quite an emotional week with Mrs Nixon starting her Maternity Leave on Wednesday. We will miss her greatly and wish her the very best with having her baby. She would like to say a BIG thank you for all of your gifts. Thank you very much to Beth (Jack’s Mum) for organising the generous collection. Mrs Nixon loved the personal individual drawings. The children have been very helpful with settling in Mrs Williams and Mrs Fallon (Carol) to the Reception class routine.
Inside we have been finding out facts about football and The World Cup. We designed our own football kit and balls and painted flags from the countries taking part.
Outside we have been making Bug homes from natural objects collected in the garden. We have also observed the froglets changing into frogs.

In PE we have been practising our races for Sports Day.

Mrs Collins delivered an insightful way to reflect on this month’s Owl value of PRIDE by telling the story of The 5 Loaves and the 2 Fishes.

Phonics & Maths:
In Phonics we are working towards children’s individual targets.
In Maths we have been learning to recognise and compare different coins. Can your child tell you how many pennies are in the different coins?

Next week:
Wednesday morning: Reception children visit their new classes for September. Parents meeting at 2.45pm in Little Owls (Mrs Vint’s) classroom (facing the main playground).
Thursday: Whole-school Collective worship to give thanks and say goodbye to the Reverend John Acreman who retires on 3rd July. St Peter’s Church is having a special Thanksgiving service for him on Sunday 1st July at 3.30pm which everyone is invited to.
Friday: Non-uniform day to raise donations for the FOHNS family BBQ on Friday 6th July. Please bring pocket money toys or sweets (not chocolate).

Incredible Edible Hooky invitation to a Garden Party-Saturday 23rd June 2-4pm. There will be tea and cakes to celebrate the official opening of the garden at school. Thank you to those who brought in cakes today.

Forest school all day session:
Tuesday 26th June – Group 1
Please can the children come ready in their waterproofs and wellies with an extra carrier bag for their dirty kit, preferably named. Waterproofs protect children from scratches and stings as well as the rain. We would also recommend you apply the once a day sun cream, insect repellent and provide a sun hat. Lunch will be cooked in the Forest and snacks and drinks will be provided through-out the day. Thank you to those parents who have already sent back the permission slip and contribution- please return ASAP if you haven’t already done so.

Don’t forget Reception Sports Day Monday 2nd July at 2.30pm on the school field.

Sharing Afternoon on Friday 6th July 1.30-3pm.

Have a great weekend!
