We have thoroughly enjoyed the first of our Foundation Stage Book Weeks this week focussing on The Rainbow Fish by Marcus Pfister. The children have been very busy making fish collages for our display, creating their own fish puppets, finding out more about sea life in non-fiction books and thinking about friendship.
Outside we have been printing sea creatures, playing fishing Maths games with magnets and making up Rainbow Fish stories with puppets.
Phonics & Maths:
In Phonics we have learnt our new sounds s, d, t and i. We continue to revise our previous sounds. Thank you for supporting your child with these at home.
In Maths we have been learning about repeating patterns. We have been trying to recognise and continue patterns with sea creatures, threading coloured beads in a pattern and playing a matching pairs game with our volunteer helper Mrs White.
A big well done to children who completed the Library Summer Reading Challenge- Karen from the library visited us this morning to deliver medals and certificates!
Non-Uniform Day on Friday to raise money for Childhood Cancer. Please wear something shiny (gold/yellow is the theme) in exchange for a £1 donation. Please don’t buy anything new.
Next week’s Learning Journey children will be Laurie and TT.
Well done to those who have managed to name all of their children’s belongings. Please make sure that all items of clothing are named including coats, hats and spare clothes. We already have a Lost Property collection!
Please encourage your child not to bring in their toys/items from home as they could get lost or broken.
Forest School for Group 2 on Tuesday. Children going in the morning can come in full kit and those going in the afternoon need to bring their kit in a namedcarrier bag along with their school shoes which they will wear for the rest of the day. Children do not need to wear their school uniform on their Forest School day. We have a volunteer parent for this session, thank you.
Information on groupings and a sign-up sheet for parent helpers can be found on the Forest School board in between Reception and Nursery. We cannot run Forest School without the support of two parent volunteers per session; please sign up for any dates you can offer. Forest School is an amazing part of our curriculum.
Please keep younger children with you in our outdoor area.
Thank you for keeping clear of the gate in the mornings- it’s really helping.
Please enquire at the office if you have not yet received a code for ParentMail for your Reception child. Newsletters will be sent by ParentMail and displayed in the classroom window.
