Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Reception Times 26 January 2018

We have had a fascinating week learning about all different types of transport. We have been printing transport pictures, building train tracks, matching transport pictures to written words and sorting transport shapes by different criteria.

Outside we have been thinking about the wintery weather. It was a great week for making our own kites this week and the children have enjoyed printing winter scenes with their hands and fingers.

Miss Persaud has been on her refresher Paediatric First Aid Course this week.

The children asked to make cupcakes in cookery this week.

Phonics & Maths:

In Phonics we continue to work towards your child’s targets. Thank you for your support with reading and writing at home.

In Maths this week we have been learning to double numbers and have begun to add together numbers to make ten. Can your child double numbers to 5 using their fingers?

Next Week:

PE will be on Monday morning- please remember your PE kit. Getting changed on Monday was mayhem due to the number of items of clothing which is not named. Please ensure that your child’s clothing is named including vests. Can your child dress and undress on their own?

Learning Journeys:

Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Jack D, Freddie, Annabella and Emilie.

Please do not allow your child to bring in toys from home including sticker books. We have had lots of tears and arguments this week over lost and ‘borrowed’ toys and books which we can’t keep safe for everyone (and stickers unintentionally stuck to our floor and tables!). If your child would like to bring something in to show, it should be related to the learning we are doing in school. If you have been doing something special at home, children can draw or stick a picture onto a WOW sheet and do some writing to go with it. These are available in the cloakroom.

Forest School Group 1. Thank you to parents who have signed up already. We have one space for a parent helper in the afternoon. Thank you for helping us by coming to check the rota after we lost our original in the wind! Mrs Macdonald has asked children to bring in an empty plastic bag to take to Forest School for the children to put their muddy wellies in.

For your child’s safety and the safety of others, please keep your children with you in our outdoor area and in the playground before and after school.

Have a nice weekend.
