Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Reception Times 26 May 2017

This Week:

The children have had a wonderful time doing activities surrounding the fairy tale ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ and the nursery rhyme ‘Five Little Ducks’. Inside we have been designing our own magic mirrors, thinking of jobs for the seven dwarfs, painting characters from the story and cooking ‘The Old Hag’s Apple Pie’. Outside the children have been looking at different types of eggs, ordering numbered ducks to 20 in the ‘Hook a Duck’ game and meeting Mrs Williams’s baby ducklings.

Phonics is going well. We are continually assessing children to ensure that they are getting personalised provision.

This week we have been counting in tens and learning about odd and even numbers. Can your child tell you the odd and even numbers to 20?

Learning Journeys:

After half term, Learning Journeys will be Ralph, Sienna and Cohen.

Please keep your child (and any younger children) with you before and after school. Could you also ensure you close school gates behind you if you are the last person to leave.

Punctuality – Please arrive at school on time. We open the gate as soon as the older children have gone in and lock it promptly at 9am. Please avoid coming in through the Nursery gate after 9am to avoid disruption.

Head lice and nits reported in boys and girls. Please check your child’s hair. We are noticing lots of itchy heads.

Spare Clothes and PE kits have come home to be washed and returned on the first day back the perfect opportunity to check everything is named.

Summer time – We have had a couple of questions about school policy on shoes and sun cream for the summer months. We recommend you put the ‘once a day’ sun cream on your child before they come to school if possible. If your child requires top up cream, please hand it to a member of Reception staff in a small, clearly named bottle; we will supervise your child putting their own sun cream on if necessary. No open toed sandals please however Doodles (or similar) are fine. We also recommend sending your child to school with a named sun hat during the summer months.

We are sad to say goodbye to Scarlott who has moved to another school this week.

During the holidays

Please help your child to practice recognising their letter names using the sheet they’ve brought home today. Please continue to read and write at home over the holidays.

Please help your child to find or draw pictures to do with everyday technology in the world we live in. We have sent sheets home for both of these activities.

After half term

We start back Tuesday 6th June. There is no forest school on the first day back. Have a fun week!
