What a wonderful autumn week! The children have had a great time watching the leaves in our garden begin to change colour, rolling conkers to create some paintings and printing with leaves using autumn colours. Inside we have been talking about Harvest and who grows our food. The children have been doing some observational drawings of different vegetables that grow in the UK at this time of year. We have started learning some Harvest songs- can your child sing ‘Oats and Beans and Barley Grow’?
In phonics we have learnt to read and write the sounds-‘p’, ‘g’, and ‘o’. We have been practicing reading our sounds at speed and we are beginning to blend spoken sounds into wordse.g d-o-g = dog, s-a-t = sat.
This week we have been learning to count along a number track, recognise numbers to 10, count a given number of objects into sets and subitise numbers (recognise a small number of items without having to count them). Can your child recognise the numbers on a dice and count along a number track on a board game?
Next week’s Learning Journeys will be Maia, Niamh and Ralph.
Please can you check your child’s pockets before you put their clothes in the wash- we’re missing a few ‘playmobil’ people from our Builders’ Yard!
We are looking for a few helpers to walk to church with us for our Harvest Service on Thursday 13th October. We will be leaving after registration at around 9.10am and returning to school at around 10.30am. All parents are invited to come and watch the service. Please let us know if you are able to help. Details of the service will be on the main school newsletter.
We will be focusing on Harvest and getting ready for our Harvest service.
Check the main newsletter for details about Becky and Roger Cooke’s quiz next Friday night at the Sports and Social club which will be raising money for school library books and the St Peter’s Church.
We hope you have a lovely weekend!
