We have had a great week thinking about the harvest and where our food comes from. Inside we have been thinking about farms and farmers by making models of tractors, playing with the farm animals and cutting out and ordering fruit and vegetable pictures by size. Outside we have been looking at the changes that Autumn brings to our environment. We have made close observations in our Autumn tray, made leaf rubbings, sponge printed leaf shapes, weighed conkers and made hedgehog collages using the plenty of leaves that have fallen off the trees.
Mrs Collins delivered a brilliant collective worship about our Owl Value of the month, Responsibility.
Phonics & Maths:
In Phonics we have learnt our new sounds c, k, u and b. Thank you for helping your child with these at home.
In Maths we have been learning to sequence the days of the week and thinking about what we do at different times of the day. Can your child remember what they do in the morning, afternoon and evening? Do they know what time they go to bed?
Harvest Festival on Thursday. Please can you bring in a packet of bread rolls (white, brown or gluten free) on Thursday morning? Reception children will be doing their cooking on Monday using some apples we have had donated by a parent- thank you.
To celebrate the harvest we will be having a Harvest Supper in the evening. Everyone is invited to bring a bowl and spoon to the school hall between 5-7pm to have a bowl of soup and a bread roll for their dinner. Donations will be going to Banbury Homeless charity where Mrs Joyner now works.
