Live Love Care Think Learn Dare

Reception Times 7 April 2017

This Week:

We have enjoyed learning about Easter. Inside we have been painting Easter patterns, making Easter baskets and telling the Easter story. This afternoon we are writing a class letter to our friends at Dominion School in Kenya about how we celebrate Easter.

Outside we have been celebrating Easter by making Easter egg cards, looking at Spring flowers and continuing to observe our tadpoles and worms. The worms will be going back to their natural habitat over the holidays as we think they may have had enough of living life in the spotlight!

The children attended our whole school Easter Service in the hall on Thursday morning organised by Miss Persaud. The children loved singing their Easter songs and listening to Rev. John Acreman deliver a wonderful talk. Ask your child about John’s magic trick with the wine!

Phonics is going well. We continually assess and review our groupings to ensure children are getting personalised provision.

This week we have been learning to add together pairs of numbers to 5, 6 and 7. Can your child add together pairs of numbers?

Please keep your child (and any younger children) with you before and after school.

Easter holidays- school re-opens on Tuesday 25th April. The teachers are looking forward to attending an Early Years Inspiration Day on the Monday!

Please enquire at the office if you are interested in finding out more information about our wrap around care (Owl Club).

May Day celebrations will be taking place on Friday 28th April. Parents are invited to come and watch us do our country dancing and enjoy coffee and croissants on the playground from 9-10:30am.

PE after half term may be outside. The PE kits will come home next week for the holidays, please could you add a pair of suitable trainers, tracksuit top and bottoms as well as the existing t-shirt and shorts. This is the perfect opportunity to check that all of these items are named.

Forest School will resume in May (2nd week back). New Forest School groups have been set to include the oldest Nursery children- please check the Forest School board to see which group your child is and sign up for sessions you can help with.

Over the holidays

We have taken the books in but please continue reading with your child. It would be really helpful to keep practicing reading numbers too- which numbers can you spot on your FOHNs Easter Chick Hunt?

Ms Kershaw is getting married tomorrow and will be Mrs Puttick when we return from the holidays. The children have made her a lovely gift and card.

Happy Easter! Have a wonderful break.
